Making History
In this issue we are unveiling a new department, Anno Domini, on page 11. The Fellowship of St. James (publisher of Touchstone) has been publishing a Calendar of the Christian Year since 1977. In 2009, the calendar was expanded and renamed Anno Domini: The St. James Calendar of the Christian Year, and described itself as reflecting “the common, ecumenical heritage that Christians share in the feast days and saints of the early, undivided Church, as it is expressed in the calendars of the Western and Eastern churches.”
Starting with the 2024 edition, we are introducing into the calendar a dozen historical dates of interest to Christians, such as the Supreme Court’s McCollum v. Board of Education decision (March 8, 1948) and the Battle of Tours (October 10, 732). Each year, a dozen new dates will be selected for inclusion in the calendar, and in each issue of Touchstone, the Anno Domini department will give a brief description of the events occurring on two of those dates.
If you don’t already have your St. James wall calendar, you can purchase one on our website (shop.fsj.org), or you can receive one for free each year by becoming a member of the Society of St. James.

"Here we do not concede one square millimeter of territory to falsehood, folly, contemporary sentimentality, or fashion. We speak the truth, and let God be our judge. . . . Touchstone is the one committedly Christian conservative journal."
