Truth Matters, Life Matters More: The Unexpected Beauty of an Authentic Christian Life by Hank Hanegraaff
As the grandson of four Greek immigrants, I was raised in the Greek Orthodox Church, an institution from which I drew, in equal measure, my religious and ethnic identity. I came to know Christ in my local church during my early teenage years and experienced real spiritual growth and maturity. However, in my case, deeper growth came from participating in small-group Bible studies through the InterVarsity Christian Fellowship chapter at my university. Eventually, the Holy Spirit led me into the Evangelical world, but in such a way that I did not, thankfully, feel compelled to throw off either my Greek or my Orthodox heritage.
Although the Lord has confirmed in many ways my decision to become an Evangelical Protestant, and although he has used me in that capacity to speak and write for believers of all denominations, I have been fascinated by, and supportive of, the growing number of Protestants who have converted to Orthodoxy over the last several decades. I was particularly surprised when I learned that some of the staff members of Campus Crusade for Christ had joined the Orthodox Church. But I was flabbergasted when I learned that Hank Hanegraaff, the Bible Answer Man, had also crossed the Bosporus.
