Political Abuse

by S. M. Hutchens

One of the things some modern Christians could profitably learn from Abraham Kuyper and his school is that if one ignores politics it won't go away: it is a basic aspect of human life to which all men are born and in which they participate whether they will or no. Political outcomes, no matter how crass, control our activity in the world on behalf of the Kingdom of God, so a vote, and other privileges of participation, where they are given, are measures and tests of custodial responsibility, for the abuse of which we will be judged.
