From Catholic to Orthod
Thom Nickels, Huffington Post
I came to Orthodoxy from Catholicism partially because of its unchanged liturgy; because the Orthodox Church, in its wisdom, never embarked on a path of liturgical self-destruction

Touchstone is first among equals in its conservative-style ecumenism. Because of that I’m disappointed to see the article by Thom Nichols linked here. Mr. Nichols seems to find the saints saintlier, orthodoxy orthodoxier, and love of the Lord lovelier where he is now than where he was before. That temporary convert’s zeal and “sectarian apologetic” is excusable, but not commendable enough to link (according to the “rules for commenting”). As a “mere” Catholic, I prefer a more pacific approach to embracing the Lord in liturgical tradition.
Amen…
Granted, this article may have been written with a convert’s zeal and enthusiasm, but it’s not overly shocking.
And besides, the Huffington Post needs an Orthodox counter-balance to Franky Schaeffer.
The Nickels article was great. I read and
re-read Laura K’s comment and still came away
not understanding her objections. Sounds to me like Nickels is telling his story–he hits a nerve with his review of Catholic liturgical abuse. Many Catholics have quietly become Orthodox since Vatican II. We needed to hear this story.
