Sigh. I don’t mean to be offensive, and as an evangelical, charismatic Christian, I can relate to much of the “worship leader” advice. But I cringe just a little bit inside whenever I see a guy with a guitar called by that title. As a liturgical/sacramental Christian, I call my “worship leader” by the title Father (unless the Bishop is in town leading the worship). But either way, he’s the guy who gives the sermons and then stands behind the altar saying, “This is My Body…”
We do have a good band, though.

I agree. I find it interesting in evangelical churches with a worship band how easy it is to see hands raised when the music begins or reaches climactic points, yet how infrequently you see those hands raised when the text of scripture is being read. What kind of golden calf are we fashioning?
