The Moslem vote helped President Obama defeat former Governor Romney in 2012. Islam is the fastest growing religion in the United States. During the period 2000 through 2010, the number of Moslems in the United States grew by 66 percent. The Moslem vote for the President was significant in Virginia, Florida, and Ohio, three of the so-called swing states. In Virginia, for instance, the margin of victory for the President was almost 116,000 votes, and Virginia has more than 200,000 Moslems. In Florida, the President won by an estimated 52,000 votes, but there are more than 167,000 Moslems in Florida. In Ohio, the President won by an estimated 101,000 votes, but there are more than 150,000 Moslems.
In an op-ed entitled, Why Muslims Should Vote to Reelect President Obama, Munir Quddus offers several reasons for the President’s re-election, one of which is Obama’s defense of Huma Abedin. He writes:
Through the annual Iftar party in White House and other events, he has conveyed a sense of profound respect and sensitivity for Islam and Muslims as a part of the national fabric. He has mentioned Muslims along with Christian and Jews in his state of the union [sic] addresses. . . . He offered a strong defense for Huma Abedin [sic] senior aide to Secretary Clinton, who came under attack by Ms. Bachman and her friends in Congress. During the Iftar dinner he hailed Abedin as “an American Patriot” and someone who has “worked tirelessly in the White House, in the U.S. Senate, and most exhaustingly at the State Department — where she has been nothing less than extraordinary in representing our country and the democratic values that we hold dear.”
In a survey from last month of 600 Moslem-American citizens (of whom 97 percent were registered to vote), more than 72 percent said they were definitely supporting Obama, and another 8.5 percent were leaning that direction. Only 11 percent were for Romney. (The poll had a margin of error of 3.98 percent.)
Okay, so the Moslem vote helps get the President re-elected, but the survey highlights some disquieting trends. In the same survey, 46 percent of the Moslem-Americans polled believe parodies of Muhammad should be prosecuted criminally in the U.S., and one in eight say that such an offense is so serious that violators should face the death penalty. And while this poll said 7.2 percent of the respondents said they “strongly agree” with the idea of execution for those who parody Islam, another 4.3 percent said they somewhat agree. Even stranger to me, another 9 percent said they were unsure on the question.” So, we are now living in a United States where approximately one in five Moslems across America cannot say they believe Christians or others who criticize Muhammad should be spared the death penalty. Is it just me, or shouldn’t this alarm others as well? The poll also found 40 percent of Muslims in America believe they should not be judged by U.S. law and the Constitution, but under Sharia law.
So our Moslem neighbors like President Obama, who has lavished praise on Islam around the world. (You will recall that, according to Barack Obama, “the most beautiful sound in the world” is the Islamic call to prayer.) And yet, while Moslem Americans like the right to vote, they do seem to have a fundamental conflict with two bedrock American principles, expressing objections to the freedom of speech and religion guaranteed in our Constitution.
Another finding from the survey is how Moslems view Christian religious freedom. Asked whether U.S. citizens who are Christians have the right to evangelize Moslems to consider other faiths, 42 percent said Christians do not have such a right, while 28 percent said they were unsure on the question. Further, one in five said Moslem men should be allowed to follow Islam in America, and have more than one wife. Nearly one in three said Israel either has no right to exist or they were uncertain whether it does.
The high birth rate among Moslems living in the United States means their numbers will grow. In addition, we can expect Obama’s policies that will invite many millions of Moslems to arrive in the United States in the coming four years, and to fast-track their U.S. citizenship. In the meantime, let us share the beautiful Gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ with Moslems as the mission field is already here, and ripe for harvest.

Did you see this, Everyone?

And the comments are also very interesting. Thanks for writing, Michael!
Obama, like the true Christian he is, reaches out to our Moslem neighbors. I am proud of our president and proud to be an American.
Paige,
You have sorely misunderstood the gospel of Jesus Christ.
President Obama bombed Yemen 7 hours after being reelected.
After President Obama’s first election he bombed Pakistan in 3 days, breaking the record set by Bush (and Blair) who waited 27 days after being sworn into office to bomb Baghdad in February 2001.
The newest US President broke his own bombing record!!
Something is wrong with our democracy when these are the choices for President. We could at least stop pretending we have any say in these actions, which are damaging the US, intentionally destablizing many countries to control their resources (and currencies) and making new enemies for generations to come. Considering peace is taboo in most audiences, and has been replaced by discussion about the best price at the pump.
Like the true Christian he is, President Obama:
– Would not vote for a law to protect babies who survived abortion;
– Sat in the pews for 20 years listening to a minister preach sermons saying “God damn America’;
– Supports laws promoting homosexuality, which is condemned by both Old and New Testament Scripture;
– Does not mention God in his Thanksgiving proclamations;
– Refuses to support a National Day of Prayer by proclamation;
– Allows his secretary of Health and Human Services to force religious instutions to support abortion;
– Allows his supporters to run political ads saying his opponent is a man who would let people die of cancer;
– Does not speak up when one of his principal legislative allies, the Senate majority leader, says his opponent is a tax cheat;
– Says, as cited above, that the Muslim call to prayer is “the most beautiful sound in the world”;
– Tries to appoint as one of his “czars” a man who says his predecessor, President Bush, was responsible for 9/11.
There’s more, but that’s enough “true Christianity” for me for one day.
On top of this, it is important to know that Pres. Obama gave a newspaper interview when he was running for the State Legislature. In that interview he made it clear that he viewed Jesus as a great teacher and philosopher, but not as Lord and Savoir of his life. In short, what he personally believes about Jesus is NOT the Christian view. Therefore he is not a Christian, but rather one of many American Civil Religionists.
Dear Deacon Michael,
Whether President Bush is responsible for 911 is debatable. As commander in chief of the United States, did he know or not know that NORAD had a “stand down” order while the country was being attacked? If he knew, he is complicit. If he didnt know, shouldn’t he have? Where was NORAD on 911? The question is one of many on that subject.
sister in Christ, Kathleen
President Obama, unlike the true deist presidents, has done more than reach out to Moslems. He has literally bent over to them; they responded by both burning him in effigy and supporting his reelection.
Radical Moslems and Leftists have a major, joint objective to destroy a Judeo-Christian United States…and Israel…so they will be strange bedfellows!
Kathleen: One, you didn’t respond to any of my comments except the “truther” one, which is telling by itself. The origins of the attack are not in question, except by the kinds of people who say the towers had to have been mined because “fire doesn’t melt steel.” (Rosie O’Donnell)
Two, NORAD was aimed at protecting our borders against attacks originating outside of them (that has changed by now). It has varying levels of alert and so far as I know, there was no elevated alert at the time of the jihadist attacks. But in order to defend against them, it would have had to have been forewarned. And President Bush receiving a national security advisory that terrorist warnings were heightened, as he did some months before 9/11, does not qualify as a warning against a specific method of attack that had, at that date, never been used in such a way before. Please try to do better than offering Internet rumors as arguments.
Neo-Islamists ranging from Huma Abedin, Al-Waleed bin Talal, Adnan Khashoggi, CAIR, and so on, have enjoyed immense and increasing influence on Western political, academic, and cultural life. bin Talal is a major shareholder of Newscorp – that’s Fox News. This is the jihad we are looking at, not some scruffy guys with plane tickets and box cutters.
Islamists are aggrieved at the loss of their caliphate and see Moslems as victims. Christians would do well to see the dawn of the post-Christian era as a ripe mission field as Mr. Abromovich suggests.
In 2000, 70% of Muslims voted for George W. Bush. In 2004, that figure was 4%. How many more demographic groups do you angry, white men want to alienate? You hate Muslims, women, the young, LGBTs, blacks, and Latinos. Who is left? Oh yes, angry, old white guys.
Katie,
Why is your argument about how much people are hated? Please give your definition of love.
Remember that the US still needs old white guys to pay the bills (taxes)…. at least before the system all collapses…then who will pay for all the free stuff from Barack O’Claus??
