Robert George being sworn in by Elena Kagan

From our friend and senior editor of Touchstone Robert P. George: “On Monday, I had the honor of being sworn in to my new post as a member of the United States Commission on International Religious Freedom by Justice Elena Kagan at a private ceremony at the Supreme Court of the United States. I asked my superstar graduate student Daniel Mark to hold the Bible on which I took the oath of office, swearing to uphold and defend the Constitution of the United States. Present at the ceremony were forty members of the Undergraduate Fellows Forum of the James Madison Program in American Ideals and Institutions at Princeton, who that morning had attended an oral argument at the Court. I’m grateful for your prayers and support as I begin my work on the Commission.”
