This article from a French website is linked from Just Genesis’s posting of a story about the recent discovery of a pyramid in Niger at Dan Baki that predates the Giza Egyptian pyramids by 1,000 years. At least that’s the claim. The megalithic tombs of Britain were originally offered as an example of the “diffusion” of culture from the fertile crescent outward to the edge of Europe, until new dating methods marked them as older than the pyramids. I guess the pyramids of Egypt aren’t what they used to be.

The megalithic tombs of Britain
Not to mention the spectacular example at Newgrange, Co. Meath, which is older than Britain’s Stonehenge. It’s in Ireland and therefore, of course, not in Britain (am I laboring that point?).
The Gobekli Tepe monoliths in Turkey predate Stonehedge by about 6000 years.
Alice, I just learned about the Gobekli Tepe monoliths (discovered in about 1993) in Turkey in the past month or two, and it was completely fascinating! If others are not familiar with these monoliths, here is a link from the History Channel:

This agrees with the Catherine Acholonu Reseach Center (CARC) thesis that the NIGER VALLEY is the MOTHER of world civilizations. The NILE VALLEY civilization is DAUGHTER to the NIGER VALLEY civilization.

Dr. Acholonu’s research in which she makes connections between the Yoruba and Akkadian languages is excellent. She doesn’t seem to have explored the much earlier migrations of Nilotic and Proto-Saharans out of Africa however.
