A Rectification of Names
"Retirement" is not part of the Christian's vocabulary. He must realistically accommodate alterations of life made necessary by advancing age in a mortal body, of course—but "retirement"? The Christian word for it, as far as I can tell, is "death," at which time, it appears, he will simply be called upon to take up new duties of an unimaginable sort. The name we have for these labors is, in good Christian paradoxical form, "rest."
